Those who know me know that I've always cited Mac Miller as one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to my music. Even when I first started releasing music, I knew that I eventually wanted to sing more and go more of the melodic route. With that said, I've always felt Mac is a great example of an artist who balances both extremely well but as always shown exceptional growth throughout his career. Furthermore, I've always commended him for being as vulnerable as he is in his music, and he simply came across as a humble, genuine and likable person by all who did or didn't know him, which drew me to his music and personality and made me such a fan.

So with this song, I wanted to write an ode to an artist that simply inspired me to be an artist and the artist I am today at that. I first wrote this song a week after e passed back in 2018 because I came across a beat that moved me to write a song in dedication of him. I then released the song on his birthday in 2019. However, I then remastered the song, swapping out the original beat that came from YouTube, and rereleased it a year later, which is this version.
